A reception, a wedding, a dinner with friends that stretches late into the night… Some moments deserve to be marked in a different way. That's why we imagined something never seen before at the estate: our Syrah is now available in large formats, from 3 to 18 liters. A wine made to be shared, and to be enjoyed at its own pace.
A first at Domaine Luisier: Syrah in large formats
One of the world's quintessential international grape varieties, Syrah finds ideal growing conditions in the heart of the Saillon vineyards: it ripens slowly under the Valais sun, which gives it all its generosity.
On the nose, our Syrah reveals a bouquet of ripe black fruit and subtle smoke, enhanced by a touch of soft vanilla and black pepper. On the palate, it is structured and powerful, supported by firm tannins that give it a beautiful texture. A wine with character, made for large gatherings.
For the first time in its history, the estate is offering this cuvée in five large formats: 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18 liters. An edition designed for generous tables and unforgettable occasions.
Jéroboam, Mathusalem, Melchior… each format has its own name
Large bottles traditionally bear biblical names, which may vary slightly depending on the wine-growing region. Here are our formats and what they represent at the table:

Why choose a large format?
For the effect it creates. As soon as a large format arrives at the table, conversations stop. Serving becomes a moment in itself, one your guests will photograph and talk about long afterward.
For the quality of the wine. In a large bottle, the proportion of air relative to the volume of wine is lower. The wine therefore develops more slowly and harmoniously, also making it an excellent choice for aging.
For sharing. Serving an entire table from a single bottle captures the very essence of wine: bringing people together.
As a gift. A Valais Syrah in a Mathusalem or Melchior is a rare gift that marks a birthday, retirement or birth.
For which occasions?
Our large formats naturally find their place at a wedding or milestone birthday, a corporate reception or client event, a family celebration or a dinner with friends that deserves a little extra sparkle. The 3-liter Jéroboam is perfect for a table of around twenty people, while the 18-liter Melchior becomes the centerpiece of a large reception.
Our tips for serving a large format
Stand the bottle upright the day before to let any sediment settle at the bottom. Serve the Syrah at around 16 to 18 °C and open it in advance to give it time to express itself. For formats of 9 liters and larger, arrange for two people to serve it, or use a pouring stand, which makes the task much easier.

How many people can be served with a large format?
A Jéroboam (3 liters) serves approximately 24 glasses, while a Melchior (18 liters) serves up to 144 glasses.
Can a large format be stored for a long time?
Yes, large formats are known to age more slowly and harmoniously than standard bottles, making them excellent wines for aging.
At what temperature should Syrah be served?
Ideally between 16 and 18 °C, after opening it in advance so that it can reveal all its aromas.
